Marie-José robinson Kafri

Marie-José Robinson Kafri is a multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges the worlds of movement and visual expression. Drawing on an international career as a professional dancer, choreographer, and educator, she creates abstract works that explore transformation, resilience, and the ever-shifting relationship between inner and outer landscapes. For Marie-José, art is both a creative inquiry and a way of navigating the world, inviting reflection on change, adaptation, and the human capacity for reinvention.

Rooted in a lifelong exploration of movement, her paintings merge the abstraction of dance with the freedom of intuitive mark-making. Through layered textures, vibrant color, and dynamic compositions, she investigates the tensions between movement and stillness, chaos and order, form and void.

Marie-José trained at the Martha Graham School, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and Maurice Béjart's École Mudra in Brussels, and performed internationally with leading dance companies including Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. Today, she is a resident artist in the World Trade Center Artist Residency Program in New York. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions at the World Trade Center and commissioned for the prestigious Kips Bay Decorator Show House, with coverage in Architectural Digest, Create! Magazine, New Visionary Art Magazine, and Sfumato Art Magazine.
